Fried Tofu

The fresh Tofu that I bought was so fragile and smooth. When I came home, it became smashed tofu. On the way home, something could happen with tofu, coz I need at least 1 hour from Asia Store. The problem, I was craving for Fried tofu with beef fillings. So, I grinded the tofu and mixed with stir fry ground beef, added some eggs to make them firm before steamed.

Ingredients:
650 g Tofu, grind
3 eggs
250 g ground beef
1 stalk green Onion, finely sliced
1 onion, finely sliced
3 cloves garlics, crushed
1/2 teaspoon white ground pepper
salt, as desired
cooking oil for frying
For coating flour: mix all purpose flour, water, salt, pepper, garlic powder
Note: You can also add vegetables together with ground beef like the recipe here.

directions: saute garlic and onion until fragrant. Add ground beef and a little bit water, pepper and green onion until cooked. Blend with tofu and eggs together then steam for 20 minutes. Let them cool. Cut steamed tofu into square pieces and dip in the coating flour before deep fry.

I've never had tofu, but it sounds delicious. I hear it absorbs the flavor of whatever you cook it with.

Looks like you smashed the tofu and mixed it with something before deep-fried it. Will be waiting for your recipe! :)

Kemarin aku juga tiba2 ngiler tahu goreng...malas buat isi nya yaa tepungin aja deh haaaaaaa.

Iya tahu di NZ juga nggak gitu firm...jadi aku kalo beli langsung rebus dulu, n dinginin ampe tuh tahu jadi kerasan.

Yes! I was right. But I didn't know one has to steam it first before cutting it to deep-fry. Oh man, a lot of work leh! But I know it's delish because I had it in a restaurant before, also meat mixed with some veggies, just the spices used are different.

Reminds me of Yong Tau Foo back in Singapore....they stuff tofu, mushrooms, peppers, bittergourd with fish+meat paste and serve them in soup. Stir fry beef as stuffings will do too :
