Rosemary-Cheese Spritz Cookies

The dough is not easy to form so I have to add more flour. I decided to use cookies cutter instead of cookie press. And about the taste........I still prefer Kaastengels than this :)

Mpek Mpek Kapal Selam

One of  our family favourite food :). My entry for Indonesian Food Party arranged by Tata Bonita Rais and Monica.

Pempekmpek-mpek or empek-empek is a savoury fishcake delicacy from Palembang,Indonesia, made of fish and tapioca. Pempek is served with yellow noodles or rice vermicelly and a dark, rich sweet and sour sauce called kuah cuka or kuah cuko also ebi (ground dried shrimp) powder. Kuah cuko is produced by adding palm sugar, chili pepper, garlic, vinegar, and salt to boiling water.

Pempek dough is made from a mixture of boneless ground fish meat, most commonly tenggiri (wahoo), with water, salt and tapioca. Ikan gabus (snakehead) and Mackerel  are  also commonly made as pempek.  According to tradition, the best tasting pempek are made of belida orbelido (Chitala lopis), but due to its rarity and superior taste, pempek made from this fish are usually more expensive. (Source: Wikipedia)

Torta Pasqualina (Easter Savoury Cake)

Tantangan KBB #28 (Maret – April 2012) - Torta Pasqualina (Easter Savoury Cake)
Torta Pasqualina literally means 'Easter cake' in Italian. It's atypical Easter dish from Piemonte and Liguria. The dough is a layered dough, a bit like 'fillo dough', but thicker. It's called 'pasta matta' (i.e. crazy dough) As this dish comes from Liguria it contains a local cheese called Prescinseua which can onlybe found in Liguria. It is very creamy, soft and slightly acidulated. It’s unlikely you will find Prescinseau so a very soft ricotta can ora regular ricotta with the addition of a little milk will do.

I´m not quite satisfied with the result :( my dough isn´t thin enough. I use one recipe for the dough and 1/2 recipe for filling, that´s why...my dough is too hard !!

Fortune Cookies

KBB (Klub Berani Baking) 27th challenge "Fortune Cookie". For me, It´s a little bit tricky to make these fortune cookies. First, I tried to bake it in the oven, unfortunately it´s too crispy to fold. I think,  it's just a matter of experience and trial and error for the various foods that I make for the first time :). Finally, I made my cookies in my teflon pan ^^.

Fortune Cookie
Source: http://chinesefood.about.com

Fortune cookies can be tricky to make - it's important to make sure that the cookie batter is spread out evenly on the baking sheet. Instead of using the back of a wooden spoon to spread the batter, it's better to gently tilt the baking sheet back and forth as needed. Wearing cotton gloves makes it easier to handle and shape the hot cookies. This fortune cookie recipe makes about 10 cookies.

Gudeg

Gudeg is a traditional dish from Yogyakarta and Central Java. It is made from young jack fruits (nangka). I´ve got the  brown color from tea bags, because I don´t have teak leaves which are commonly used to make the reddish brown color to the dish.  Normally,  It takes several hours to cook gudeg,  but I just make it simple...put all  ingredients in the press cooker. Done.....in about 45 minutes :). My second time to join Tata Bonata and Monica´s Party :)
