Potato Pudding with chocolate agar-agar

Hesti, thank you for sharing the recipe. I modified the recipe a little bit.

My son´s comment:" The consistency and difference between the taste of potatoes and agar-agar are too large ".  Hmmm...a good critic from my tester after he ate one slice of pudding ^^.

Caramel Pots with Minted Shortbread

mintedshortbreadcaramel-retno

I´m a bit pessimistic when I see the shortbread´s recipe using fresh mint leaves. In fact, the taste is quite good. The fresh mint leaves improve the flavour of these buttery cookies. My kids like it....I´m glad don´t have to finish all of shortbreads by my own :). The recipe reminds me to the gifts that Arfi of Homemade send me last year : Vanilla beans! Imagine, the Vanilla beans had been flown from New Zealand and landed safely in Hamburg, now in my tummy...he..he. Thanks again Arfi. My caramel pot is too dark, the result is slighly bitter... never mind, next time better :).

Candil/Sweet Potato in coconut milk & Choco Pudding in Horns

When I was a kid, I love Candil and Kolak Pisang (sweet plaintains in coconut milk) for Iftar in Ramadhan-a month of obligatory daily fasting in Islam. In Ramadhan, our meal habits get different, without intake start from dawn and end with sunset. Dr. Haffejee suggest that in view of long hours fasting we should comsump slow digesting foods including fibre containing foods rather than fast digesting foods ( read more here).

In my home country, I used to buy Candil for Iftar as an appetizer or dessert. Since I´ve been here, I try to make by my own. Sweet Potato or Ubi Jalar is a good dietary fibre, source of vitamin A, B6, C and minerals. It can be prepared in variety of delicious dishes, as a main dish or as a dessert, cooked savoury or sweet. I prefer the sweet one :).
This is my entry for Joy from Fasting to Feasting hosted by Kitchenflavours´ Lubna Karim and Yasmeen.

KBB#5: Banoffee Pies

My second challenge for KBB#5, since I´ve joined Indonesian Baking Club (KBB). I bought only 3 mini tart tins with diameter about 12 cm, so I made only a half of the recipe below. I don´t have any problem to make the pastry. When I started to make filling, upppsss......I had no brown sugar in my kitchen. Hmm...the filling should to be brown, caramel of white sugar can help to get similar colour. Yessss..... I get it and taste good but still too sweet for me!

Children like waffles. It´s such an easy recipe that I´ve got from one of teachers in Westerschule. Served warm and sprinkle with icing sugar or whatever you like.

Kolak Pisang/Sweet Plantains in Coconut milk

Plantains/Banana plantains or Pisang Tanduk are very close relative of banana. The fruit looks exactly like normal banana but longer, larger and often cooked before eaten. It´s highly nutritious, good source of potassium, vit A, C and energy booster. Use plantains with yellow or black skin. In this stage, it would become ripe. Plantain is cooked in various ways ( boiled, fried etc), served as a side dish, snacks or as a dessert.

Apple-Bread Pudding

Unser imbiss gives me an idea what to do with my leftover breads before they´re going to be expired. Of course, you can make it not only due to expire date. I´ve added sultanas/raisins and mixed vanilla+ground cinnamon.

Black Forest Cake

I haven´t taken any cake decorating course, so my black forest doesn´t look beautiful like others. For the black forest cake , I don´t use margarine or butter. Despite lack of margarine or butter, the cake itself turned out pretty well. I thought, it´s already creamy enough from the mixture of whipped Cream and Mascarpone that are used to cover the cake.
